Hot off the last date of her tour with Isabella Lovestory and ali rq— her first of, no doubt, many —destined pop star Cece Natalie headed straight for the Golden Records afterparty in Berkeley, California. Hosted by Goldenrecords and curated by @recollectiions, the event adds yet another tally to her, now, 19 cities she’s made #teamcece in this North American tour leg. From “electroviolence” to Brazilian electrofunk, the show was supported by some of the Bay Area’s most exciting musical talents: Swagbaby, Naty Nixo, 1ycia, and Denimontaro.

SWAGBABY
The multi-genre and limitless musician and DJ Swagbaby would describe her personal and unique sound as “gritty” and “ethereal,” giving her audience a taste of just that during her opening set for Cece Natalie's afterparty. “My sound is all over the place, no bounds, whatever I want”, she says. Her first EP, Pixels, features five songs, including her track “Only You” featuring fellow artist and opener for the afterparty, 1ycia. “I implemented a lot of my musical inspirations,” Swagbaby says about her new EP, “it just stayed really true to what I love and my life.” Beyond Pixels, Swagbaby is starting a post-punk Midwest screamo band based in Berkeley called “Hello Mrs. Wong,” personified by the band’s imaginative character with an emotional storyline, an elderly Asian woman named Mrs. Wong. Expanding on her diverse musical talents and creations, Swagbaby is embarking on an upcoming ambient project, collaborating with a producer she promises is “amazing.” Expressing her excitement for opening for Cece Natalie, Swagbaby says, “It's crazy. I genuinely can't believe it. I feel like I'm just a baby, a swag baby, but you know, I'm here, and I'm gonna do my best.”
NATY NIXO
New York City’s very own pop electronic artist, Naty Nixo, made her Bay Area debut opening for Cece Natalie after two years of being an independent artist. Her roots in the Big Apple hold much influence for her musical upbringing, reflected in her music which sets a scene for how Naty Nixo explored the city’s nightlife as an adolescent. “I don't think I would have started making music if I didn't start going out the way I did when I was still not of age to enter the club”, she says. Naty Nixo’s Brazilian and Dominican heritages hold much inspiration of her music as well, highlighted in her recent track, “Ricochet,” which sampled her favorite Brazilian song. She hopes to establish a new genre of “Brazilian electrofunk” sometime in her music career, and start a music movement spotlighting her culture. “I want to bring Brazil to New York. I want to bring the vibes, it's not the same,” she explains. Naty Nixo says opening for Cece Natalie has been the greatest achievement so far in her music career, gushing over the opportunity. “It means everything. It means the world. She's a baddie, she's cunt, she's everything.”
1YCIA
1ycia encapsulates bubblegum electropop-punk perfectly within her world of poppy, sparkly, melodic sounds. She began producing her own music two years ago, finding inspiration from music she’s been listening to as a child. “Let (you know) the inner weird kid come out a little bit!,” she says. 1ycia’s musical concepts express the world as perceived by her as she works to “communicate the world through my eyes in a fun way.” 1ycia’s made incredible achievements within just a few years as an independent artist, from her most popular track “cigarette” amassing over ten thousands streams on Spotify, receiving coverage from FLAUNT Magazine, and gaining attention at her Los Angeles debut show at The Virgil. “Just being in a city where I'm not from and seeing the room full of people singing my song and vibing with me, I was so grateful for that,” 1ycia says on her LA show. Her opening set for Cece Natalie had the crowd jumping to the beat of electronic pop, ignited by her energetic and mesmerizing stage presence.
DENIMONTARO
At the forefront of the Bay’s hottest and loudest clubs, you’ll be sure to hear sounds of “electroviolence” from San Jose-based DJ and musician Denimontaro and, consequently, his cult following of boys in black leather who claim friendship with the artist in an attempt to get backstage. While he’s been producing music for eight years now, Denimontaro began his artistry under his stage name just earlier this year, already establishing himself as an artist to anticipate. His opening set for Cece Natalie in Berkeley was nothing short of fist-pumping and brutal electronic, telling his audience to expect “Crowd killing. Mosh pitting. Fuck[ing] shit up.” His set featured his self-produced songs “All I Know Is,” “Trademarked” and currently unreleased songs, but his rise in the underground music scene doesn’t stop there. A week prior to opening for Cece Natalie, Denimontaro opened for MGNA Crrrta in Miami, describing the experience as “(the) craziest show” he’s ever performed at. Following the recent release of his song “Trademarked” featuring Olivia Jones, he says to expect more of his music, especially his upcoming project, Electroviolence, and looks forward to more opportunities in Miami and Los Angeles.
